My Book Review - The Secret

a book by Rhonda Byrne...

a phenomenal book that took the readers's world by storm...even oprah winfrey recommended it..honestly,me am not sum1 who wud read a self-motivator @ self-help book,(not dat im already a positive, well motivated person..i am in fact, da exact opposite of it )…but due to a strong urge of wanting to find out wat d buzz was all about, I got the book (well,not really…I asked my brother 2 buy it 4 me…thanx,faisal ;D)

it is a relatively thin book,with only over 200 pages..from the outside, the book sumhow reminds me of The Da vinci code..a picture of an old time wax offical seal...the texture of the front page has a velvety feeling to it...due to its sacred and exquisite look, i fell in luv at the frst sight with this book..the book itself is filled with qoutes and short paragraphs...a perfect light reading for ur lazy weekend..

Nway,wat I think of the book..? Its hard to say…I wish I cud say dat it was a gud book, n believed that life is that simple…to agree with thousands others who have swore on The Secret, n lived by the rules n beliefs, like a new age religion or sumthing…but, I juz cant…

I find it,laughable…to suggest that by practicising The Secret can give u parking space at ur work place everyday, can give u unexpected checks in ur mail, can find u ur perfect life partner etc…juz by thinking, believing n living ur life juz like u already have it, will attract those things u desire to u…anything u desire…wealth, happiness, health…thanx to “The Law of Attractions”, u can have it all…

“You are a human transmission tower, and you are more powerful than any television tower created on Earth. You are the most powerful transmission tower in the Universe. Your transmission creates your life it creates the world….” - page 11 of The Secret

Are u kidding me? To think of myself as a transmission tower, emitting frequency to the Universe with my thoughts, juz down right absurd to me…

But not all was bad…there were few things that caught my attention n had me nodding with agreement…

“ There is a big difference between giving and sacrificing. One emits a signal of lack and the other emits a signal of more-than-enough. One feels good and one does not feel good. Sacrifice will eventually lead to resentment…” – page 108 of The Secret
“ Learn to become still, and to take your attention away from what you don’t want, and all the emotional charge around it, and place the attention on what you wish to experience…Energy flows where the attention goes…” – page 145 of The Secret

So, to conclude…The Secret is like the new age Bible or Quran for atheists or scientologists…bcoz, basically it suggest that there is no God, n u r not bound to any fate…u r in control of everything and anything in ur life…I tink it became such a huge hit bcoz we all wished that life IS DAT simple…we desperately wanted to believed dat we have unlocked the Secret of Life… as a muslim (tho not a very devoted one), The Secret contradicts my beliefs…it was an interesting read, nonetheless…to the believer of The Secret, I wish u all the luck in the Universe…Ask, Believe And Receive…
